Ear, nose and throat diseases (ENT)
Diseases of the ear, nose, and throat affect important bodily functions such as breathing, hearing, balance, speech, and sense of smell, and can therefore negatively affect quality of life. Karolinska offers a team of more than 50 specialists (ENT surgeons, phoniatricians-, and audiovestibular specialists), working in a multi-professional setting with nurses, research nurses, technicians, audiologists, physiotherapists, engineers, social workers, speech therapists, psychologists, pedagogues, and teachers in sign language. It is the largest and most diverse ENT care provider in Sweden, committed to offering top-quality, personalized medical and surgical care. Patients treated at Karolinska are often the first to benefit from the latest technologies and therapies since many of our team members also work as researchers, conducting clinical trials and patient-based research, along with preclinical studies, to improve treatment options for patients with ENT diseases. We also serve as a tertiary referral center for highly specialized conditions nationally and internationally and are members of the European Reference Network for rare ENT diseases.
