The patients are being treated for injuries sustained in the fire at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna. The first two patients arrived in Stockholm by Region Stockholm's intensive care flight at around 17:00 on Wednesday. The other two patients arrived on Friday morning by intensive care flight via the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). Karolinska University Hospital's ECMO team was also on the plane. The patients are stable and their condition is not considered life-threatening.

Several countries have received casualties from the fire disaster.

- The tragic fire disaster has put a great strain on the North Macedonian healthcare system and it is positive that Sweden, Region Stockholm and Karolinska University Hospital have been able to assist and treat some of the victims relatively quickly, says Alberto Falk Delgado, Director of Plastic Surgery at Karolinska University Hospital.

- Region Stockholm stands ready to receive more patients from North Macedonia if needed. We are in close contact with MSB and the National Board of Health and Welfare regarding the continued need, says Johan Bratt, Chief Medical Officer in Region Stockholm.
